Foto-Foot Expo in Marseille

Foto-Foot Expo in Marseille

The Foto-Foot exhibition in Marseille has made more than one football fan cringe. And for good reason: this photographic exhibition, created as part of the La Photographie Marseille Festival, is offering, until November 11, a chance to challenge the image of football through a series of photos featuring some of the most unusual and unregulated playing fields on the planet.

Foto-Foot: Topics Not to Miss

Marseille Foto Foot football exhibition

Among the subjects on display at Foto-Foot, the most unusual is undoubtedly this astonishingly inclined installation illuminated by artist Marie Denis. Simply titled "Inclination," the photo shows a football pitch with an absurdly steep slope, leaving the visitor to imagine the complex playing conditions on such a surface. Imagine the same pitch on a table football:

With his "Woodfoot," Jeremy Laffon also caused a sensation. The photographer's photos and film show us an improvised football pitch in the heart of a forest where players must adapt to absurd natural constraints that hinder the game... or make it impossible? A dozen other "photographer-performers" can be discovered in the Foot-Foot exhibition in Marseille. But why Marseille, by the way?

Marseille, Capital of Sport

Foto-Foot is one of the 25 exhibitions of the 7th edition of the Marseille Photography Festival. As exhibition curator Floriane Doury explains:

Several projects have a sporting focus, given that Marseille is the European Capital of Sport in 2017, and has launched a call for projects to prepare its program.

By projects, we mean, of course, sporting projects, but also cultural ones. We can therefore expect to see other initiatives like Foto-Foot sprout up in the Phocaean city in the coming months.

To experience Fotot-Foot, head to 19 rue de la République in Marseille. There, a former clothing store awaits, completely transformed for the event into an exhibition hall. While waiting for the upcoming opening of the new "Marseille Photographic Center"...
