Auréole is the unusual exhibition that brings together football fans and art lovers. In this virtual exhibition created by P2J and SLip (which can be visited without leaving your living room), the most famous masterpieces are given a football-themed makeover, imbued with humor and nostalgia.
The exhibition that subverts football and classical painting
With "Aureoles," the Passement 2 Jambes podcast team and the artist SLip show us in an original and offbeat way that football has always been a part of history. The paintings by Raphaël, Valentin de Boulogne, and Giovanni Andrea Donducci take on a whole new "religious" dimension. Passion, Tension, Hero, Obsession, Victory... these are the five terms—which will resonate with any serious football fan—chosen to illustrate the different halls of the virtual exhibition, Aureoles.
By revisitingmythical religious paintings, the exhibition's creators tackle the world of football without ever falling into mockery or facile interpretation. "I hope it's funny, successful, and that it will allow everyone to rediscover some of the masterpieces," says Miguel de P2J.
Even those less fond of the third art will recognize some of the great classics on display, notably The Last Supper and The Resurrection of Christ, which are teeming with football-related details. Each work is accompanied by a short description that offers a completely different perspective on the painting.
If you're not shocked to see the Virgin Mary popping off a smoke bomb to celebrate PSG, this is an accessible and free exhibition that's well worth a click or two. When will the same thing happen with the table football?
