With its legs borrowed from a vintage table and its body made from reclaimed wooden planks, this foosball table, which IMT Lille Douai students created with whatever resources they had, has a very raw style and a slightly disconcerting playability.
By opting for a 100% recycled design, these young engineers intend to remind us that everyday objects can be given a second life if we use a little imagination...
Study project: making a foosball table
Many a student would like to be able to boast of having made a foosball table as part of their course. Alice, Gabrielle, Thibaud, TheVinh, Elyes, and Corentin now can. These six engineering school students chose to tackle a recycled foosball table to carry out their open project (a project aimed at developing their observation, experimentation, and creativity skills) on the theme of planned obsolescence. Code name: CraftUtoo.
These six are now true pros when it comes to handling a circular saw. And true connoisseurs when it comes to finding recycled materials. Old tables, planks, rods, metal tubes, handlebar grips... who would have thought that all these end-of-life objects could be used to bring a foosball table to life? Of course, before tackling the manual work, the small team went through a preliminary research phase. Table football is a sport that requires attention to detail and precision, let's remember that.
While CraftUtoo still has room for improvement in terms of looks and handling, it's worth noting that this recycled table football costs next to nothing, is perfectly playable, and is stable too. With a few finishing touches and a lick of paint, it'll make you want to do the same!
