Students have done it: a foosball table equipped with artificial intelligence capable of outperforming any human player. The war between Man and Machine has officially been declared!
A team of geeks at the helm
It's to the students of Brigham Young University that we owe this technological feat, which won't please everyone. In a demonstration video, we see the robotic table football in question manhandling a very human player. Even using feints and trickery, nothing works: the machine is too strong, anticipates the slightest blow and crushes its opponent without the slightest remorse. Only a single point will be won by the human team during a game resembling a cold death...

If nothing escapes this 2.0 table football, it's thanks to the camera, the visual recognition software, and the game analysis algorithm with which the machine is equipped. The monster is literally capable of tracking the ball and staying one step ahead of its opponent. As sophisticated as it may be, this smart foosball table isn't yet capable of improving its tactics with each new game. Students at Brigham Young University are currently working on this small detail. So, before long, it could become even more formidable...
