Could the next foosball world champion be a machine? An astonishing foosball table with artificial intelligence might suggest so. This 2.0 foosball table, presented at Bosch Connected World, packs into its modest wooden cabinet all the high-tech assets to become the new worst nightmare for "human" players...
An AI foosball table that observes and learns...
Presented at the hackathon organized during Bosch Connected World in Berlin, the smart table football in question made a strong impression on fans and employees of the German brand. The objective of the event was to test the new possibilities offered by the fields of IoT - understand the Internet of Things - and artificial intelligence. We can say that the team that brought this baby to life during the few days that the hackathon lasted brilliantly succeeded in its bet. While the machine is neither infallible nor invincible, it nevertheless demonstrated ever stronger learning and resistance capabilities against the human players who challenged it. After only 3 days, the robotic table football had already mastered new defense and attack techniques allowing it to compete with its opponents.
A concentrate of technology in a baby
While the "Bosh" table football may not look anything special (if you ignore the motorized drive), under the hood, it's a different story. This high-tech table football is equipped with two elongated sensors located on either side of the table and a camera placed above the playing surface that records the human opponent's movements at 90 fps. This combination of components gives it astonishing speed and adaptability, as well as increased and growing precision. When will a compact, marketable version be available?
