The event that all the world's table football players are waiting for is fast approaching: 3 weeks until the ITSF World Series By Bonzini 2016!
This year, the Gasiaquois club in Saint Quentin has the immense privilege of organizing the 2016 Table Football World Cup. For this global competition, more than 450 players (including the world's best) will compete (among other things on Bonzini table football!), supported by some 12,000 Excited visitors. There's something new for the 2016 ITSF World Series by Bonzini!
The first major new feature of this Foosball World Cup is its name: the traditional "World Championships Series Bonzini" has been replaced by "World Series by Bonzini" to avoid any confusion with the World Championships.
For this 2016 edition, a new competition format will be introduced: the Team Warm-Up. The specific features of this format proposed by the ITSF are as follows:
- 4 players per team (free composition)
- 20-point relay matches
- All players play 2 to 4 times, but only in doubles
- When 5 balls are played, a new doubles game begins
- No timeouts during a game
- Doubles are played in the following order: player A/player B, player C/player D, player A/player C, player B/player D
- Each match counts as one set
- In qualifying: 20/20 tie
- In elimination: 20/20 penalty
For the very first time in France, the table football World Cup will host the European Champions League, which will begin on the first day, at the same time as the Team Warm-Up competition.
The singles and doubles competitions will begin on Friday and Saturday respectively, and will follow the Swiss system. On Sunday, two new competitions will close the event: Speedball and "classic" doubles.
Registration Procedures
The registration deadline is April 27, 2016, inclusive. As always, only players licensed with the national federation may participate in ITSF tournaments.
This year the package price has been set at €80, regardless of level. The latter is valid for 6 competitions instead of 5:
- Singles
- Doubles
- Team Warm-Up
- Classic Doubles
- Speedball in Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
Important: Players must wear their sportswear and play exclusively with TST or Bonzini handles.
In terms of prize money, in addition to the prestigious title of World Champion, winners can win up to €1,500 in Open, €400 in Speedball and Classic Doubles. Furthermore, the winners of these last two events will automatically qualify for the 2017 World Cup Hamburg, the first World Championships dedicated to these two formats.
