No one in Douarnenez will deny it: the second edition of the Douarnenez table football world championship was a great success! All the ingredients were there to ensure a party like we rarely see: table football enthusiasts, a cosmopolitan crowd, music, and an electric atmosphere!
A table football competition, but above all, a party!
Organized by the Bolomig United association, thethe long-awaited event for the Douarnenists brought together 108 players who gave their all for over 10 hours of play. The Bonzini table football requisitioned for a good cause had no time for respite!
The hundred or so participants who came with their little family had to close access to cars, making the Quai du Grand Port exceptionally pedestrian. Between the many Douarnenists who wouldn't have missed this table football competition for anything in the world, the Brestois who were at the very origin of the championship and the many Trégorois, the crowd of supporters wanted to be "cosmopolitan" and lively.
A unique atmosphere for an unusual event!
Make no mistake: the Douarnenez table football championship is not an official competition reserved for an elite group of players. It's quite the opposite! The competition is open to everyone, and all levels mix. Pairs are improvised, girls and boys, young and old (or not!) are mixed, and everyone thinks about one thing: entertainment! But as with any competition, winners had to be chosen. For 2014, the father-son duo Les Capistes took home the laurels.
And to end the evening in style, two music groups, the Wacking Jugs and the Jack Danielle's String, had the great idea of taking over the port, armed with their instruments and their talent. It was in this very festive spirit that the event unfolded perfectly over the entire day. Bottom line: table football tables set up in the street, stairs transformed into makeshift stands, players who gave their all, supporters who broke their voices and the blues to accompany, what am I saying to sublimate it all... The Douarnenez championship has all the makings of a real party with friends... on a city scale!
Well, a Bonzini B90 table football is not normally designed for outdoor use. But if it's for a good cause...
