A virtual foosball table to reinvent the sport
This is indeed a table football table (decorated in the Russian style to celebrate the start of the World Cup) with real handles protruding from it, where four players can compete at the same time. And yet the playing field is completely absent... It's because it's only visible to the participants! The so-called "VR" headset required to play Koliseum Soccer will generate a more realistic-than-life pitch right before the players' eyes, as well as a realistically moving ball thanks to the simulation's physics engine.
"It's a friendly game that offers a collective virtual reality (VR) experience, which is quite rare. Until now, VR has tended to isolate players," explains Frank Kessaratos, Director of Sales and Marketing at Kyona.
It's easy to imagine the advantages of a 100% waterproof foosball table (even for beer) whose pitch would be unaffected by the weather or player clumsiness: spilled glasses, untimely cigarette ash, tackles... Not to mention cheating, which would be purely and simply impossible thanks to undeniable virtual refereeing.
Before the World VR Forum, Koliseum Soccer VR had already been the subject of numerous demos around the world: in the Balexert shopping center in February, at the Servette Football Club, in Dubai, and even at the Cannes Film Festival.
This virtual foosball game has been a hit every time, attracting gamers and old-school foosball players alike with its gameplay, which skillfully blends immersion and user-friendliness.
