The 2013 Table Football World Cup lived up to its promises! The 500 table football enthusiasts from 40 countries were able to withstand the pressure and give their best during this 7th edition in Nantes.
In the middle of a forest of table football Bonzini, spectators were treated to a veritable festival of talent and technique, at the end of which the United States brilliantly won. In the men's competition, the French, the now "former title holders," earned a fine 3rd place by beating Luxembourg 3-0. The Austrian team took second place on the podium.
In the men's singles, Denmark's Sven Wonsylv won the world championship title. Second place went to American Ryan Moore, and third to Paul Nunes of Portugal.
In the women's competition, the French lost 3 points to 2 to the Danes, consoling themselves with a magnificent second place. Germany took home the bronze.
In the individual rankings, there was more good news for France: Estelle Jacquot won the world championship title. The organizers did not fail to congratulate this achievement, a first for France in the player rankings.
In the disabled category, the Belgians triumphed against the Italians. For the German team, it was once again the bronze medal. In the individual standings, Italy's Francesco Bonanno took home the laurels.
So, with a vice-world champion title for the French players, an achievement in the women's singles, and a third-place finish for the men, we can say that the table football World Cup ended on a high note for France, right? Let's hope the results are at least as good for the next World Cup...
